Understanding Grief

What is grief? While we may not be able to come up with the dictionary definition of the word at a moment's notice; there's no doubt we recognize grief when we experience it. If you look up the word, it's got three meanings; the first being a "deep sadness caused especially by someone's death"; the second, "a cause of deep sadness". It's interesting that the third meaning is simply "trouble or annoyance"; grief is certainly "troublesome". (And many people feel their grief is an annoyance to others. It's true but still sad to say: for some folks, those caught in the emotional roller coaster ride called grief really can become an annoyance.) If you're currently dealing with grief, we'd like to offer you the support you may need right now. For us, the key to successful grieving (leading to a healthy adjustment to loss) begins by understanding grief; and for that reason, we offer you the following resources on the nature of the grief process and the experience of grief. If you have questions about anything you see here, please call us at 406-543-5595. We will be privileged to serve you.
