Evelyn "Honey" Dunlap
Missoula- Evelyn M. Dunlap, 103, passed away Wednesday, November 22, at Riverside Health Care. Sue and Skip were by her side.
Born in Fort William, Thunder Bay, Canada on January 3, 1914 to William E. and Harriett Harper, she was the fourth of five children. Two brothers and a sister died in infancy. The family moved to Rochester, NY in 1923 and lived with their grandparents, Samuel and Margaret Champion. Evelyn graduated from East High School in 1933.
She worked for the Rochester Telephone Company for ten years and Bausch & Lamb for three years during WWII.
Evelyn married Leo J. Dunlap in 1941 and they were married 48 years, until his death on April 1, 1989.
She lived most of her life in Rochester, where she was very active in church at; St. Marks & St. Johns and at Trinity Church after a move to Greece, NY. She was active in the PTA, when her daughters were in school and is a past president.
In later years she did catering with her sister, Lorraine, for the Episcopal Diocese and volunteered at the Episcopal Church Home.
She moved to Missoula in 2007 and was lucky to find a condo at Lynnwood, where she lived for 8 years. She moved to Bee Hive for a short while until she had another stroke and moved into Riverside Health Care. She made many friends wherever she was living. Mom was lucky when she moved back to Riverside to be moved into a room with her friend Helen Sheets. They had two good years together. Helen was a blessing, as she looked out for mom. Our families were more like family than friends. Riverside staff was wonderful and we send special thanks for all their care.
Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Lorraine Gillette (Eric), Susan Koprivica (Skip); grandchildren Nicolle and Andrew Gillette; great-grandchildren Tyler, Payton and Brayden Courtney; nieces Peg Cameron (Tom), Penny Seidel and family.
Thank you to the Sheets family; Dave, Karen, Judy and Kim, who made Mom, feel like family and would help if she needed anything.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents, William & Harriett Harper, husband, Leo Dunlap and sister Lorraine (Joe) Seidel.
A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Missoula. Burial will take place in NY at a later date.
